Bush Engages in New Witch Hunt

Once again, our illustrious President as apparently declared war on another constitutionally protected privilege, this time being free speech. I was reading an article that outlined the administration’s new vendetta against pornography. It has been decently reported on the past attempts under Bush to demonize anything remotely sexually erotic as debased and immoral, but now his cronies are tightening the noose and focusing specifically on erotica that depicts bondage and SM situations. There have been numerous suits against distributors of SM photography and videos that in my opinion are nothing more than blatant pandering to the uber-theocracy that is Bush’s political base. What further makes this whole new moral crusade more interesting is that while Bush is prosecuting fantasy depictions of bondage, he is wholeheartedly supporting actual torture and humiliation of innocent civilians in the crusade in Iraq and beyond. It seems just a bit hypocritical to justify one with no legal underpinnings and to demonize the other which is protected by a bedrock principle of our Constitution.
